Lines from Sappho – revisited

Now my moon has set –
there are no ‘joyful sisters’
in me, it seems –
and youth and love
and fun and friendship all
have fled.
The sky still turns,
but I, I alone am still.

An earlier take on the same Greek verse appeared in the Words collection – I wrote it in 1990, or thereabouts.  I was into reading Greek poems at the time.
